Look to the hand

Psalm 123

Verse 2 talks of the servant looking to the hand of the master.  In this context, servants would understand the wishes of their master through hand signs.  It was common communication for a master to use a silent motion of the hand, and the servants were trained to watch for these signs and obey.

The writer expresses anger at prideful people that were ridiculing them.  Their answer was to turn their eyes to God, focus on him (like a servant), and waiting for the sign of grace.  They took their eyes off their problem and put it on the solution.

I usually focus on the problem while I pray for the solution, but God might be giving us a sign.  We need to look to his hands to see what he is saying.
