Friday Follow-up #11

Busy but good week here. Let's get right to it:

  • LIFESHARE was a really great thing to be a part of. The idea behind it is to minister in your online community and be real and authentic. We met some really great people.I'm sure another LIFESHARE will be happening in the future.

  • Brandon and I went to the dentist- Brandon's report: teeth look great, no cavities, blah, blah, blah. Christi's report: 2 cavities, need a retainer and it will cost about $1000! Whoa. Maybe we shouldn't have went at the same time. They are going to spread it out so we can put it on our cafeteria plan next year. That's good.

  • A lot of our favorite shows started back up this week. Heroes started on Monday. The jury is still out on this one-they have went even "darker" than before and to tell you the truth, I was a bit depressed after watching it. I'm sure we will keep watching but I hope they fill in some blanks for us. Survivor also started and seems to have some interesting "characters". (I still get tired of the girls running around in their underwear). Looks like it's going to be a fun season though. This is the 17th season (we have watched all of them, have you?). I guess it's safe to say we are "fans" :)

  • We got the Wii fit on Sunday. We really like it! It keeps track of your workouts, weight, BMI, etc. The only bad thing is that now the boys are questioning whether they are "fat" or not! Pretty sure they have nothing to worry about, me on the other hand....

  • Brandon and I are against each other this week in our fantasy football league. I am 0-3 which kills my competitive nature. Last year- my team rocked, and this year- not so much. Lord, if I can only have 1 win this season, let it be against Brandon so I can have bragging rights all year!!
What do you have going on this weekend? What cha been up to this week?

Olympics 2008

We have been glued to the Olympics so far (we are every time they are on). My favorite is the gymnastics probably because when I was little I was a gymnast and thought I was pretty good (now I know better). Brandon likes it all.

It was neat seeing Michael Phelps break all the records. It was awesome seeing our male gymnasts get bronze and our females get silver (although the gymnastics commentators are driving us crazy pointing out every negative thing that happens and calling them a "disaster" or a "huge mistake"). I love watching the good sportsmanship between all the athletes too.

I think the statistics are way off the charts as far as viewership this time. People are staying in and watching I guess.

What is your favorite event? How much have you been watching? Are you watching online or on the television? What are your thoughts so far on the Olympics?

Gotta brag on our friends for a bit (pt 5)

I wanted to highlight another friend of ours. Meet Josh Shipp.

Josh and his wife moved to Oklahoma to work at Lifechurch.tv right about the time we were leaving for California (which is their home state). Then a few years later, we swapped back and returned to our "home" states. It was kind of funny how we only saw each other in transition. Unfortunately, we did not get to work with Josh and Sarah firsthand but were able to admire their work from afar.

Josh has been a successful motivational speaker for a long time and travels around the globe to speak to teens. He has recently released a DVD and CD . He also has a popular site called "Hey Josh" where people ask him questions and he responds. (Some are serious and some are just hilarious- most are hilarious actually:)

Josh will be appearing on Total Request Live (TRL) on MTV today at 3pm (eastern time). Please tune in and see him and Selma Blair answer questions about teen dating and other topics of interest.

Visit Josh's myspace or facebook to leave him a comment. Or, visit his websites www.JoshShipp.com or www.HeyJosh.tv

Again, I can not stress enough what a great communicator he is.....maybe you should even book him for an event!!

I don't want to grow up...

Remember that song? (singing)..." I don't want to grow up, I'm a Toys R Us kid....there's a million toys at Toys R Us that I can play with"...(man they should really give me some endorsement money)

But seriously, I don't want to grow up and am not sure when I ever will. Take for instance Saturday night. ABC had a Disney night (like they used to when I was growing up) and they showed an Original Disney movie called "Camp Rock" starring the Jonas Brothers.

You should have seen me and the boys cuddled up on the couch. Each commercial was about a Disney show or video. They even had "Wipeout" commercials (which my boys are dying to see- ha ha). After the movie they went behind the scenes and showed some music videos.

I LOVED EVERY MINUTE OF IT! Not just because I got to bond with my boys, and cuddle up on the couch with them, and order my favorite Pizza hut breadsticks to have delivered (which is a special treat in our home because it's usually only Little Caesars around here).

It was because I got to feel like a kid. I went from actually being a "kid", to remembering when I was a kid, and now getting to enjoy things with my kids. Very cool.

I was telling B that although we both hit (clears throat) *35* at the end of this year- we are both just kids. Kids at heart, kids learning the way, kids enjoying the simple things.

And that's just the way I like it! Growing up is so overrated :)

LOST

How many of you are LOST fans? Or should I say LOST fanatics? This is one show Brandon and I watch religiously.

So- we finally saw the Season finale online on Monday night and we have so many questions! The more they answer, the more they give.We miss Charlie! We loved seeing the Desmond/Penny reunion ( at least there was one moment of non-turmoil!)

What are your thoughts on LOST? Any theories? Why is John Locke now "Jeremy"? Where did the Island go? Did Michael and Jin die in the blast? So many questions....so little time! (Oh wait- we have PLENTY of time because LOST won't return until the Spring!- BOO)

Friday follow-up #2

Whew- still lots going on here at the Donaldson house.....
  • Had a date night last night and saw "Iron Man". ( It was Brandon's choice). We actually both really liked it! Robert Downey Jr. did an excellent job.
  • We finish up our adoption classes tomorrow. Now we have to get ready for the home study. (which could happen as late as July). This week they are supposed to bring in a teen panel from the OK DHS program. We're looking forward to it.
  • This weekend we have graduations, Mother's Day, and birthdays. Lot's of holidays :)
  • Booked our flights and house in Seattle. Can't wait for this trip!!
  • Looking forward to the Survivor Finale- Go Amanda!!
  • Survived some scary tornado warnings last night. I don't remember having this many in a Spring season before. Hmmm....
What have you been up to? Weekend plans? How are you?
