Friday follow-up #16
Whew- I haven't done one of these in a while. We have started off the New year in a buzz. I have a feeling this year is going to be a great one!- OK- let's talk family. Our boys are doing great. Merrick get's his braces on Monday. He turns 9 this month! (Can't believe that one) Ethan is also losing his front teeth. He is digging math right now. He even quoted "Homework is fun as long as it's math"...hope he keeps that mentality!
- LC.TV Internet Campus is hoppin'. We saw record attendance (of all time) this past weekend. God is bringing some new challenges and new ideas so it looks like it will be a fun,exciting year!
- Brandon/I got to meet with some Lifechurch.tv Internet campus partners. They are the Byers from London, and the Thomas'/Rossow's from Australia. What a lively bunch. It was so incredible to meet these people face to face and have some great discussion about culture differences and what their lives are like (plus of course there was Internet campus talk!).
- As a family we have set some high goals in saving and giving this year financially. We also feel a little more clear on where to head with our adoption-which is a BIG deal (but I will have to share more on that later).
- We have planned a trip for the Fall of '09 to NYC with our close friends, The Berkels. We are saving for it as we speak.It will be our 15 yr. anniversary and their 10 yr. anniversary. We are super excited about this (and it's still 18 months away!).
- Tonight is Brandon's fantasy football league's party.The loser has to wear a dress tonight. There are 10 guys in all.Should be hilarious! Brandon is thankful that he squeeked by and doesn't have to put on that dress!
- My women's life group started back and it's a huge blessing to me. I love how transparent everyone is. This is our leader:) We have fun and giggle but we also get to talk about deeper issues. We are all about the same age and it's awesome to be able to live life together. We also have a couple's life group that is the real deal. This couple leads it and we're pretty sure they are the best leaders eva! We meet and talk about all kinds of things. We feel so blessed to have these people in our lives!
Invasion
Just wanted to remind you to tune in to Lifechurch.tv this weekend for the "Invasion" series. It's a closer look at some of the people who attend our church. When you see these amazing individuals, you will want to say "I love my church!".
This weekend, there are 2 stories dear to our hearts. The Byer's family is invaded.They are a family that just picked up and moved to London because they felt called to be missionaries there.They have hosted local events and also completely lead an experience online every weekend. They are a big part of the Internet campus!
The 2nd story that we are looking forward to viewing is our friends, the Campbell's. This family lost their little boy back in July of this year. They had prayed and believed and saw many milestones with him for several months before God brought him home. Their story of faith is truly inspiring (and tear jerking). You will not want to miss it. Brandon said they have some incredible video footage of them. While I know their story is hard to re-live, they continue to be open and honest. Jace's short little life has brought so many people closer to God. Makes me tear up just writing about it.

Please pray for our friends in India
As we are gearing up for a day filled with fun, family, friends, and food- the people in Mumbai are under terrorist attack.
It breaks my heart to see the footage. I have no idea what it's like to live in a country where I have to fear for my life and my kids lives on a constant basis.
I remember several weeks ago on the Internet campus talking with a man from India. He talked about how he was in a shelter after violent fighting was taking place on his street.
We have had several people from India on the Internet campus over the past few months. I love their respectful and humble tone in the chat room.
Lord, I lift up our friends in India. I don't know if they are near the fighting or if loved ones are but I pray you intervene. Bring peace to their minds and hearts amidst the conflict. Keep them safe from harm.Thank you for providing safety to my family. Don't ever let me take that for granted.

Friday follow-up #15
Hmm- this week has flown by (again). Here are our latest happenings: - We took a meal over to our friends (whose baby was just released from the hospital). We are SO thankful that he is recuperating so well. What a BRAVE little 5 month old!!
- Merrick had a follow-up ortho appt. Looks like he will have 4 braces and an "extender" put on by the end of the year. Then comes retainers and then eventually braces in a few years. Our cafeteria plan is going to be HUGE this next year but we are thankful that money won't be taxed.
- Brandon celebrated his 35th birthday yesterday! We had lunch with the team he works with. Last night he wanted a pizza party so that's what we had for dinner. We also played glow in the dark hide and seek where we hide in complete darkness and the "seekers" search with glue sticks. It was a big hit!THANK YOU TO EVERYONE who sent well wishes. He felt very loved :)
- Today the birthday celebration was extended. Brandon and I had lunch at McAlisters and then went to Bass Pro Shop so he could use some gift cards. His eyes were lit up the entire time. He got some great stuff:)
- Tonight (in about an hour from when I'm writing this) is the Internet campus Big Show where they will honor all volunteers and life group leaders from this past year. We have some amazing people on the Internet campus!!
- At 4:30 am Saturday, we are both waking up to participate in the "London Live Experience". We can't wait to see who shows up for this!!
- Then, this weekend is also the launch of the brand-new Internet campus . There is a new look as well as new functionality so it might take a while to get used to it (but should be great).
- We can't wait for Thanksgiving next week!!
Internet Campus Webinar
Brandon was part of a webinar today about Internet campuses. For those of you that missed it and are interested, here are some of the notes from Church Crunch.If you think of any more questions about Internet Campuses, leave it in our comments section. Brandon doesn't have all the answers but he has learned quite a bit over the past few years as an Internet Campus pastor. Can't wait for the new site to launch in just a few weeks!! :)

Friday Follow-up #11
Busy but good week here. Let's get right to it:- LIFESHARE was a really great thing to be a part of. The idea behind it is to minister in your online community and be real and authentic. We met some really great people.I'm sure another LIFESHARE will be happening in the future.
- Brandon and I went to the dentist- Brandon's report: teeth look great, no cavities, blah, blah, blah. Christi's report: 2 cavities, need a retainer and it will cost about $1000! Whoa. Maybe we shouldn't have went at the same time. They are going to spread it out so we can put it on our cafeteria plan next year. That's good.
- A lot of our favorite shows started back up this week. Heroes started on Monday. The jury is still out on this one-they have went even "darker" than before and to tell you the truth, I was a bit depressed after watching it. I'm sure we will keep watching but I hope they fill in some blanks for us. Survivor also started and seems to have some interesting "characters". (I still get tired of the girls running around in their underwear). Looks like it's going to be a fun season though. This is the 17th season (we have watched all of them, have you?). I guess it's safe to say we are "fans" :)
- We got the Wii fit on Sunday. We really like it! It keeps track of your workouts, weight, BMI, etc. The only bad thing is that now the boys are questioning whether they are "fat" or not! Pretty sure they have nothing to worry about, me on the other hand....
- Brandon and I are against each other this week in our fantasy football league. I am 0-3 which kills my competitive nature. Last year- my team rocked, and this year- not so much. Lord, if I can only have 1 win this season, let it be against Brandon so I can have bragging rights all year!!
Friday Follow-up #10
Another busy week here in the Donaldson household. (I bet you are tired of hearing me say that). The photo above was taken at the LIFESHARE kickoff on Wednesday night. (Courtesy of John at human3rror)- Well, today Ethan had to see the dentist because he had a baby tooth was seemed to be infected and was not wanting to come out. He ended up having to have it "extracted". He was such a brave little guy. He was pampered all day so I'm pretty sure he forgot all about the shots he had to numb his mouth!
- Our new dog has some issues but we found a great vet today and he will be going in for treatments. He was a trooper as well.
- Brandon has been busy with LIFESHARE. If you have not participated, please try to do so at least once (there 5 more times to be a part!). It's basically a week long micro-mission online. Click HERE to see what I am talking about.
- One of my stitches came out tonight (from my recent surgery)- looks like it's going to be fine though.
- We are hanging out with family tonight and really looking forward to it. Brandon and his brothers are buds. Our kids love each other as well :)
Friday follow-up #9
Hmmm, let's see- not a real exciting week here but I will give you the scoop nonetheless.- Merrick started "Chess Academy" at school this week. His school has a great team and they make it to Nationals every year! In 3rd grade, they just get to learn all about the game of chess. He really liked his first week!
- I'm heading out on a women's retreat today. I'm really excited. Several friends are going and my sister and I are driving out there together. I will share about what I learned later.
- Fantasy football kicked off this past week. We are in a league with Brandon's family so it's a blast teasing each other. (Brandon is also in a league with the guys that he has been in one with for about 7 yrs. now). B and I both lost our first game of the season. I lost by 1 pt-bummer.
- We are both really into twitter right now. If you don't know what it is, read HERE. It's basically like texting all your friends about your day. If you want to follow us on Twitter, it's @brandonaldson and @mrscdonaldson
- The Internet campus launched a new mission experience called LIFESHARE. We are really excited about this.You can read what it's about HERE. Also, you can watch the video Brandon made about it below.

At the Movies
Just wanted to mention a series we just started at church. The reason this one is different than the rest of the year is because you can only see it LIVE online or at a physical Lifechurch.tv campus. They can't archive these by putting them in podcast or webcast form due to copyrights in the movie clips.So, your LAST chance to see this weeks message about "Pursuit of Happyness" is tomorrow night at 8PM (central time). There is also a live chat area that opens up from 7:30 PM-9:30 PM (central time). The series "At the movies" will run through July 2008. The message this week is very powerful and will move you (I promise!)

Friday follow-up #5
Here's our week in a nutshell...- The boys are finishing up swim lessons today. They LOVED taking them at Pelican Bay. I highly recommend it if your kids can't swim (or even if they can, but need a little refining)
- I am starting to pack today for our trip next week. I'm already getting little butterflies in my tummy from knowing I will miss the boys. I know it will be a blast but I sure will miss my little buddies!
- We got a little 2 1/2 ft deep pool (about 12 feet wide). The boys are in heaven! They played "Marco Polo" the other night in that thing. It was so cute. They didn't care that they were bumping into each other :)
- This weekend, our church (along with about 1500 other churches), is taking up a special "offering" during ONE PRAYER, to start about 500 churches in several countries. Very exciting. If you want to read more about it, check this out.
- The boys are participating in the library reading program where they get prizes each time they read 8 books. Wish they had that stuff for adults! I've been reading a LOT lately:)
Gotta brag on our friends for a bit (pt 2 of 4)
Second entry for our "talented friends" goes to Kevin Ely. Kevin is the video producer for the Internet campus. He switches the live tapings every week for the IC. He also produces videos of Brandon when he speaks. He has been working for Lifechurch.tv for a LONG time! Pretty sure he will be famous soon. He can make anything look good! He has made countless videos for the church which were brilliant as well.Kevin just finished a film called "Rainbow around the sun". He helped direct and write the film. The premiere in OKC over the weekend was a big success. Unfortunately, we didn't get to view it :( They also premiered the movie at the South by Southwest conference in March 2008. Kevin is humble, obviously creative, and just a likable guy. Here is the trailer for the movie. Hope you get to view it soon! It looks amazing! I want the soundtrack :)

Jacob's Ladder
As I stated earlier, we just got back from a micro-mission. Brandon and I had been prayerfully seeking a mission trip for both of us this summer. Although, we wanted to take our family back to Monterrey, MX, we felt like God had something else in store. We thought about Sierre Leon, Haiti and then NY. We ended up in Chandler, OK (only about 45 minutes from where we live!). Kind of ironic, huh?
We learned that sometimes we want the "big thing" and our example of a big thing is totally different than the Lord's. We didn't need to fly away to make a difference. We had a GREAT experience at Jacob's Ladder and want to go back!
Our group of about 20 completed 10 bunk beds, worked on roofing, framing, and windows. We did landscaping and mowing and tree clipping. Most importantly, we bonded together as one from all over the US, for one common goal. We worked as a team. We also bonded with God. To see Him move in so many different people's lives is completely cool. To be able to serve alongside my online life group women was humbling.

WOW
Wow...that's all I can say about this past weekend! I will probably be posting a ton about our past 5 days. 5 days? That's all? It seems like we made so many memories and did SO many things in only 5 days.I wanted to tell you all about yesterday. We went to Lifestock which is an annual celebration held at a local amusement park. We had about 3000 Lifechurch.tv attenders from the local OKC campuses.
It was HOT, but it was a ton of fun. We had roller coasters, yummy food, a concert, and then baptisms. Baptisms are where I get all choked up. There were over 300 people that got baptized. That means that about 10% of the people there were taking their first step as a Christian and being baptized.
The picture above is of 2 of my online life group women getting baptized. What a privilege to get to be able to witness this! :) Rachel is from Maine and Kywanna is from Illinois.
It was one of those days that just confirms why the Internet campus exists. It was such a reward to meet these women in person. They are on the plane right now as I type. Write some encouragement to them below!
I will share more about the mission trip we went on a little later. It was such a positive experience. We can't wait to go back next year! We were so proud wearing our "Internet Campus" shirts around:)
Anonymity on the web
Current TV is going to be doing a piece on anonymity on the web. They asked some of us at LifeChurch.tv to upload some positive stories about anonymity that they could use, so I uploaded a video story here.
There is definitely a lot of evil that has come from those who are able to hide their true identity on the internet, and it can be troubling. But here on the Internet Campus we have experienced how anonymity can be a positive thing. Many people come with a lot of deep hurt, and they feel more comfortable in sharing those things and asking for prayer here in an Internet setting than in a face-to-face setting. I think their is a safety in being in their home and being relatively anonymous. They feel more relaxed and able to share. People who show up in our lobby or our live prayer tool are not judged by looks, by age, by weight, by race, by clothes, by smell, or by religious views. Those kind of initial meeting distractions, which are unfortunately normal, are not a part of the Internet Campus experience. Now if we could only transfer that kind of strength to our physical communities.
