Long day
It's been somewhat of a long day so I will be posting our Friday "catch up" a little later today.......have a GREAT Friday!! :)
Random #3
I usually use Friday for an update on the family but don't really have much to update. It's been a fast week. So, I thought I'd send you over to my bargain blog so you can read about how to get a FREE Slurpee from 7-11 today and also some FREE Chick-fil-A!! Why not get some free stuff before the weekend??We love to eat out at least once a weekend. So, here's a fun and easy question for you.....what's your favorite restaurant (dine in or drive thru) and why??
Happy 4th of July!!
We are heading out to spend time with extended family today. Will be back to posting on Monday. For now, here are a few short updates.....- OKC now has an NBA team!! I'm sure you've heard about it on the news. We are very excited even though it's been a negative process so far. We don't have any professional teams so please accept our enthusiasm :) The name and colors will be announced soon. Any ideas for the name of the team??
- Fuel prices in Seattle were anywhere from $4.40-$4.70 a gallon, back here in Oklahoma it's about $3.87 a gallon. That is a HUGE difference!! I think Oklahoma is the lowest in the nation. Not sure why we are , but I'm thankful. What is the average price where you live?
- Isn't it strange how you come home from "vacation" all worn out? We vowed we were not going to do that this time, but we did. I think there is just so much to see and do in a new place that no one wants to sleep. We are feeling a little more back to normal (although Brandon came home with a cold).
- Wimbledon women's final is Serena vs. Venus! Which Williams' sister will prevail?
Friday Update (from Seattle)
Hey friends! We wanted to update you real quick. We arrived in Seattle and we are loving this city! Here are a few of the things we have been doing:- Went to the beach and enjoyed the beautiful landscape
- Visited the Space needle (twice) and took lots of pics!
- Went to the Science Fiction Museum (not as boring as it sounds :) they had tons of movie memorabilia and also a ROBOT exhibit with about 200 robots
- Visited the "Experience Music Project" which was also a lot of fun. I practiced my "scratching" skills on an old album and Brandon got to drum and learn some Nirvana songs on the guitar.
Hope you have a great weekend! We still haven't had time to upload the pics because we are wanting to fit in everything possible (but will probably add some this weekend).
Friday follow-up #4
We have been a little sporadic on the blog lately. Posts might not be as consistent due to summer but hopefully we will get our groove going:)- One Prayer starts this weekend. There are about 1350 churches taking part and about 800,000 people. It's inspiring to be a part of this history making series!
- The boys start swim lessons Monday- looking forward to it. Our local swimming pool had a great deal ($30 for 2 weeks of lessons for 1 hour a day).
- Speaking of the boys- they were jumping on the trampoline with the sprinkler underneath it today (always a favorite around here). I caught them spitting and then trying to make their spit fly up in the air as they jumped. Then, they crawled underneath the trampoline (after the spit had dissolved of course) and pretended like they were in a rain-forest. Boys will be boys. I love it when they don't know I am listening:)
- I'm not getting into facebook at all. I seriously don't know what the fascination with it is. I keep getting requests from people and just keep ignoring them. If I don't log in for a day or two, I have like 60 requests for things (such as movie quizzes and flower patches). Am I missing something? I will probably stay on it to keep connected with people but am not digging it like I thought I would.
- Nothing else happening around here. We are still just catching up from the trip and having house guests.
Friday follow-up #4
Quick update on our household.....- Brandon is speaking this weekend on the IC- be sure to tune in. I am on part of the video- very self conscious about it, but B promised it turned out great :)
- The boys get out of school on Tuesday- can't wait!
- No plans for Memorial except family time- looking forward to it. Got any special plans for the holiday?
- Our long time babysitter and friend leaves for Mexico on Monday- WE LOVE YOU, BECCA!
- We had the first part of our home study done today- 2 more meetings and TONS of paperwork and it will be complete:)
- Thank you to all the "well-wishers" for our Anniversary- we had a fun night! Went to Ted's (mexican food) with the kids and then went to the library. Tonight we went out to Tao Cafe (yummy!) and then went to see Indiana Jones on our last 2 free movie passes. It's been a week of celebrating this year.
Friday follow-up
Hello Friends! Can you believe we are in the month of May? Our boys have their official last day of school on the 27th (couldn't they have just had us stop on Friday instead of one day after Memorial day??). We can't wait for SUMMER!We just got the boys signed up for swim lessons. They have been looking forward to this for several months. Ethan actually was "waitlisted" so is it wrong to pray that some kid drops out? He's #2 on the list and needs the lessons more than Merrick who is taking the intermediate class!
Week 4 of adoption training. We are almost finished! We have enjoyed the classes immensely but do miss Saturdays with the family :) It's going to be quite a process (but not as extensive as International).
Someone gave us a TV yesterday! We were so giddy last night watching LOST! It's a much better quality TV than our previous one. It's amazing how much a difference 5 inches of screen makes :) We were thanking God for providing for us on even the stuff we want and not just the stuff we need. It is hard accepting things that people give to you though, isn't it?
We are starting to get college graduation announcements in the mail.....wish our "youth kids" didn't ever have to grow up!
God's been shaking us up a bit lately- yes we have big hearts and want to do so much for the glory of God, but are finding that even though we want to do things (but don't do them), it's not the same. The intention is great, but the action would be even better.Just realizing that we can't do it all and aren't supposed to.. Do you struggle with this at all? Wanting to do too much and then ending up not doing anything really? Most posts coming up on that! Still kind of processing through it...
Lots going on but we like it like that! So- what's been going on with you and your family lately? Any weekend plans? Any thoughts on the stuff I mentioned above?
